[info]aloychan
6 years passed with a blink. It is her 6th Birthday and how times fly. We wished her Happy and healthy always. Cut down on Cola and junk foods (this part difficult to control). Guessed she enjoyed herself in the birthday party we have for her.

Kenny & Tricia ROM - 26 Jun 2009
[info]aloychan

It was a long and slow confirmation from Kenny & Tricia to engage me as their ROM PG. Before me, they have set eyes on a few other candidates with very good portfolio. In end they choose me because my style resemble a Professional Wedd PG which they like. We did not meet until the ROM day and even so we hit it off very well. At the end of the session we were like long time pal. I wish them a very blissful life journey into the next chapter.

Music @ Red House Painters
[info]aloychan

Biography by Jason Ankeny

Red House Painters was primarily the vehicle of singer/songwriter Mark Kozelek, an evocative, compelling performer of rare emotional intensity. Like Mark Eitzel of American Music Club, to whose work the Painters were invariably compared and to whom their early success owed a tremendous debt, Kozelek laid his soul bare on record, conjuring harrowingly acute tales of pain, despair, and loss; unlike Eitzel, Nick Drake, and other poets of decay, Kozelek's autobiographical songs walked their tightrope without a net -- forsaking the safety offered by metaphor and allegory, he faced his demons in the first person, creating a singularly haunting body of work unparalleled in its vulnerability and honesty.

Visit @ Tanjong Pagar KMT Railway Station.
[info]aloychan

Built in 1932 on reclaimed swampland, the station's inaugural opening was conducted by Governor Sir Cecil Clementi Smith on 3 March 1932. It became the southernmost end of the Malayan Railway, serving the needs of Singapore town, particularly the transport of goods from its harbour. The station became one of the latest of the main terminus along the West Coast Line to be completed and thus had some of several unique designs of its time, both in the mechanics of its system and in the design of the station. House fly pal and I roam this building, took pictures and eat out at the muslin food stalls. It was somehow back to the past with building design of yesteryears.

Music @ Echo and the Bunnymen
[info]aloychan

Biography by The Rolling Stones

The standard-bearers of Liverpool's neopsychedelic movement, Echo and the Bunnymen's moody, atmospheric music combined punk's energy and edge with the Doors' poetic theatricality. Self-consciously literary, outspoken, and sometimes arrogant (singer Ian McCulloch was known as "Mac the Mouth"), they never matched their popularity in Europe in the United States. Their influence can be seen in the attitudes and guitar textures of such '90s English bands as Suede.

Food @ East Park Food Centre Han's Bak Kut Teh
[info]aloychan
With the news of Swine virus flu flying every where in the news and across the globe. Me and House Fly pal went ahead to try the famous Bak Kut Teh stall at East Park Food Centre. We ordered Salted Veggie, Tua Pok, & Pig trotter too. 2 grown up men settled the meal in 15mins. The Bak Kut Teh soup are those clear and pepper type and the pig trotter are very good. Salted veggie and tua pok tasted normal to me. Go try it if you are near East Park Food Centre. There is a duck rice located in same food centre but was closed on the day we went.
Lets hope the pictures can make you hungry now.

Music @ The Cure
[info]aloychan

Biography by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Out of all the bands that emerged in the immediate aftermath of punk rock in the late '70s, the Cure was one of the most enduring and popular. Led through numerous incarnations by guitarist/vocalist Robert Smith (born April 21, 1959), the band became notorious for their slow, gloomy dirges and Smith's ghoulish appearance. But the public image often hid the diversity of the Cure's music. At the outset, they played jagged, edgy pop songs and they slowly evolved into a more textured outfit. As one of the bands that laid the seeds for goth rock, the group created towering layers of guitars and synthesizers, but by the time goth caught on in the mid-'80s, the Cure had moved away from the genre. By the end of the '80s, the Cure had crossed over into the mainstream not only in their native England, but also in the United States and in various parts of Europe.

Food @ Mei Ling Street Chicken Rice
[info]aloychan

I am not sure if you have heard or even try the Chicken Rice found in Mei Ling Street Hawker Centre? The chicken rice stall operate for the longest time that I can recall. The hawker centre was near to Queenstown Library and many school or poly students patronize it. The good thing about the chicken rice is the kampong chicken which they used and their chilli which you can even eat it with the rice. Very OILY meal. After the hearty chicken rice, we roam around Mei Ling Street and the Library.

Visit @ Portsdown
[info]aloychan

Well, it is another trip for food and visit today with my house fly pal. MAN, it was HOT the last few days or weeks, it is just so HOT but that did not stop us from driving down to the old charm of Portsdown.

I stayed in Tanglin Halt (10 Storey) for over 20 years previously. Portsdown was just a stone throw away separated my flat between a railway track. During my time then, I remember my brothers and I will cross the railway track with risk and head down to Portsdown area to catch fighting spiders, climb the tree house, or just roamed the many Ang Mo Houses (British Colonia Bangalow). Most of the bangalow are either empty or housed by Ang Mo back then. Now it house many arts school, bridal or photography studio, and many of those houses along Wessex or Working Road still house the Ang Mo. The good OLD SKOOL COLBAR still stand tall after so many years but it seems to have changed owner? Take a peek inside and around Portsdown.

Music @ The Smiths
[info]aloychan

Biography    by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

The Smiths were the definitive British indie rock band of the '80s, marking the end of synth-driven new wave and the beginning of the guitar rock that dominated English rock into the '90s. Sonically, the group was indebted to the British Invasion, crafting ringing, melodic three-minute pop singles, even for their album tracks. But their scope was far broader than that of a revivalist band. The group's core members, vocalist Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr, were obsessive rock fans inspired by the D.I.Y. ethics of punk, but they also had a fondness for girl groups, pop, and rockabilly. Morrissey and Marr also represented one of the strangest teams of collaborators in rock history. Marr was the rock traditionalist, looking like an elegant version of Keith Richards during the Smiths' heyday and meticulously layering his guitar tracks in the studio. Morrissey, on the other hand, broke from rock tradition by singing in a keening, self-absorbed croon, embracing the forlorn, romantic poetry of Oscar Wilde, publicly declaring his celibacy, performing with a pocketful of gladioli and a hearing aid, and making no secret of his disgust for most of his peers. While it eventually led to the Smiths' early demise, the friction between Morrissey and Marr resulted in a flurry of singles and albums over the course of three years that provided the blueprint for British guitar rock in the following decade.

Visit @ Old Changi Hospital
[info]aloychan

It is rumored that the Old Changi Hospital was haunted. Scores of ghost hunter have been to this location at night with touch light lighting up the entire building making it look like Deepavali. Young and old, brave and weak, have made their way to explore or maybe to catch a glimpse of good old "friends". For you info, it is declared a private property and anyone found wandering at night will be prosecuted by the law (Please enter at your own risk). This place is much look after by security guards with dogs after 7PM (I bet the dogs keep howling at night).

Today my pal the Housefly (If you read LUNCH @ HRC post you will know who he is) and I decided to visit this place in the day and to have our nasi lemak at the nearby food center. We were there at noon and the sun was blazing hot will mozy all over the places. Very run down places with graffiti from vandalism. We did not walk far inward as standing outside already made you have goose pimples. Ok, we walk 10 or 30m inward to take some pictures. It is Qing Ming period, we saw offering laying on the ground to the main entrance of the Hospital.

Whether it is haunted or not? You decide.

Food @ HardRock Cafe

HRC Rocks!

Its 10 years since I step foot on HardRock Cafe. I still recalled that it was one of the HAPPENING place for young Army personnel back in the 90s to hangout and babes watch. Most weekend were filled with men of the Armed Forces so getting in was rather challenging. So to get in you have to be early like 7 or 8PM have your dinner and hangout till 10PM where they have LIVE BAND and DISCO between the LIVE Performances. I was there like every weekend and paying for the cheapest dinner and waiting till party time.

So today 01 Apr, I was back to HRC with a good pal, no we were not there to party but to try out the S$10 Set lunch. While there we noticed that the place has not changed much, the ambience still warm and cozy, and throughout our stay there the waiter and waitress were extremely attentive and friendly.

Back to the Set Lunch, there are 3 choices to choose and my pal chooses the Chicken Maryland and me the Breaded Fish. The set comes with a soft drink, soup of the day, and a Haagen Daze ice-cream. To be honest the food aint that great but we enjoyed the ice-cream so for 10 bucks I said its value for money. Go for the Set Lunch if you missed the good old HRC.

My good pal the HOUSE FLY.

Chicken Maryland.

Breaded Fish.

Now I missed PLANET HOLLYWOOD.
